Talking business & getting personal
What sparked her career journey? And if not in communications, where would she be? In a short chat, Carolin opened up about both her personal inspirations and her professional experiences.
What inspired you to pursue a career in communications?
I’ve always been energized by connecting people and ideas — and by the challenge of making messages truly resonate.
What do you enjoy most about working at Pfizer – what makes your job special?
Pfizer sits at the forefront of innovation, where complex science and health topics must be communicated with precision and empathy. It’s a challenge and I love it.
What makes collaboration between academia and industry valuable for your organization?
It keeps us state-of-the-art: Where academia and industry collaborate and challenge each other, that is where the magic happens — in healthcare as well as in comms.
If you could meet one historical or famous person, who would it be — and what would you ask?
I would ask Margrethe Vestager how she combines calm clarity with authority when communicating tough decisions to powerful audiences.
What’s something new you recently tried and loved?
Becoming a driver — and finally understanding what the famous “German Fahrvergnügen” is all about.
If you weren’t working in communications, what other field might you explore?
I’d be a radio host again, like in my days at the American Forces Network (AFN) – telling people’s stories, asking questions, and spinning classic rock all day long.
A heartfelt welcome to the Academic Society and thank you, Carolin for insights! We are looking forward to the future collaboration!
