Circle Sessions – New Exchange Format Launched by the Academic Society

The challenges facing corporate communications are evolving at an unprecedented pace. New political, societal, and economic developments can reshape the communication landscape within weeks or months. This raises important questions: How can such topics be explored and contextualized from different perspectives at short notice?
With the Circle Sessions, the Academic Society for Management & Communication is expanding its portfolio to include a new format that addresses emerging issues. The aim is to create a trusted environment where communication leaders and scholars can engage in an ongoing dialogue and jointly reflect on new developments.

“Scientific progress does not happen in isolation. In corporate communications, research questions and theoretical concepts need to be continuously tested against the realities of professional practice. The Circle Sessions provide a unique and pragmatic forum for this exchange: they bring together scholars and communication leaders so that both sides can learn from one another and spark new ideas.”
Prof. Ansgar Zerfass, Leipzig University
One Conversation Starter, One Hour of In-Depth Discussion
The Circle Sessions bring together communication leaders from the Academic Society’s corporate partner network and professors from its partner universities. Each session focuses on a current topic, thesis, or question that is currently of relevance to businesses or academia. An impulse speaker from academia or practice introduces the topic for a joint exchange.
“For years, the Academic Society has fostered open and candid dialogue. With the Circle Sessions, we tackle key issues in near real time, bringing practitioners and scholars together to discuss challenges – precisely as they shift from theory to immediate practice.”
Dr. Michael Preuss, Bayer

Timeliness, Openness, Confidentiality
The distinctive value of the format lies in its timeliness, openness, and confidentiality. The Circle Sessions take place approximately six times per year – either as virtual sessions or integrated into the Academic Society’s existing in-person events.
About the Academic Society’s Partner Programs
The Academic Society creates diverse opportunities for exchange between academia and practice. Event formats such as the Hermes Dinner, the Leadership Forum, as well as workshops and webinars bring together executives and their teams with professors and their research teams. Together, they discuss current developments, gain new perspectives, and develop shared ideas. Our programs provide space for joint research and innovation initiatives.
