ERC Starting Grant for Scientific Advisory Board Member Sophia Volk

Prof. Dr. Sophia Volk

Prof. Dr. Sophia Volk, member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Academic Society for Management & Communication, has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC). The grant is one of the most prestigious awards for outstanding research in Europe and is conferred based on the scientific excellence of researchers and their projects.

Sophia Volk is a professor of communication science with a focus on strategic communication at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Her research project COSCOM (Corporate Science Communication: Risks, Opportunities, Interventions) examines how corporations communicate about science. The central question is under what conditions corporate communications can strengthen trust in science – and when risks such as the distorted presentation of scientific findings arise. The project aims to develop evidence-based insights and practical recommendations for communication professionals, media, policymakers, and the public.

The Academic Society warmly congratulates Sophia Volk on this outstanding distinction. The ERC Starting Grant underscores the international visibility and scientific excellence of the research that the members of our Scientific Advisory Board contribute to the work of the Academic Society.
