Talking business & getting personal
We spoke to Florian about his new role at Infineon and asked him about current communication challenges the company is experiencing. We also got some insights into his personal and professional life.
How have your initial weeks at Infineon been?
Amazing! I’ve enjoyed the warm and open welcome from all the colleagues. They have been very generous with their time – helping me to listen and learn.
What do you enjoy most about your new job?
Semiconductors are the hearts and brains of our digital society and economy. They contribute significantly to decarbonization and digitalization, solving some of the biggest questions of our time. It’s very motivating to be a part of it!
What is the biggest communication challenge your company is currently experiencing?
We live in very fast and volatile times, with lots of opportunities but also challenges and surprises. We need to stay adaptive and agile while looking out for each other to keep up with the workload.
What has been the most exciting encounter in your professional life so far?
My first boss at DaimlerChrysler in 2001. As a leader and true professional, as a friend and mentor – he’s been there for me ever since.
Are you more of an office person or a remote worker?
Both, because I like the mix! The pandemic was hard and difficult for all of us, but it’s great to have much more flexibility now about where and when we work. And yet, I still very much enjoy the days in the office.
What are your favorite blogs, newspapers, or magazines to read?
I am a media junkie and consume all kinds of media – print, books, digital, audio, video. What I never want to miss is radio, one of the oldest but most diverse and interesting media. And privately, I love my sports media: from Kicker to ESPN and everything in between.
Thank you for the interview and welcome to the Academic Society Florian Martens!
