AI Implementation in Corporate Communications

Artificial intelligence has become firmly established in the everyday work of corporate communications: 87% of the communication professionals surveyed use AI tools daily or several times a day. AI is particularly widespread in operational tasks such as translation (92%), research and fact-checking (88%), and text creation (84%). By contrast, strategic applications such as planning and strategy development remain less common (41%).
This examines how AI is being integrated into communication departments at large German companies, focusing on usage patterns, different types of AI users, organizational support measures, as well as the assessment and evaluation of AI applications.
The findings reveal a clear gap between AI use and its strategic integration. While 88% of respondents report that AI helps them work more effectively and 85% say it enables them to work faster and more efficiently, only 18% consider AI-generated output reliable. Systematic evaluation also remains limited at the departmental level: only 25% of communication departments comprehensively measure the effectiveness of AI, while 40% do not measure it at all.
